Porin 1 is a prime example of the kind of sculptural work I produce through my community arts practice. It was made during a session teaching people from the middle-east about the different possibilities of western art. I spent time getting to know each participant personally, presented various examples of different types of art then introduced them to my own practice. We then all sat in a room, listening to music, while I sculpted under blindfold and they sculpted whatever they wanted to. This was an extremely collaborative learning experience for us all in many ways and I am still in touch with some of these people, years later.
